Convict the World of Righteousness

And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged (John 16:8-11).

Since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), and he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:18), and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), the answer to the problem of sin, condemnation, and spiritual death is the righteousness of Jesus Christ that is able to save us. (Romans 3:24-26) . . . being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. The Apostle Peter wrote of Jesus (1 Peter 2:24-25) . . .  who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness - by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. 

God is holy - there is no sin in Him. God is righteous - He does all things in accordance with His holiness. God created the universe, and all it contains (including mankind), to be holy, righteous and free of sin (Genesis 1:31). Satan, the arch enemy of God, tempted Adam and Eve to sin (rebel; disobey) against God in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-13). The result was that sin entered the human experience and with it physical pain and suffering, and spiritual death (Genesis 3:14-19). That physical and spiritual condition has been passed to all who are born of Adam and Eve. (Genesis 5:1-3) This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created. And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth. The Apostle Paul makes that clear in Romans 5:12-14. 

But God sent Jesus Christ to be the solution to our sin problem. (Romans 5:15) But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man's offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. (1 John 4:9-10) In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (satisfaction; atonement) for our sins.

That His sacrifice for our sin is complete and accepted by God the Father is expressed in His words, because I go to My Father. The Apostle Paul expressed it this way Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9-11).
