Today's Word of Encouragement

OUR LORD REJOICING OVER US

This current pandemic has afforded me some time to think about things and seek the Lord for wisdom and discernment regarding what He wants me to learn from all that’s going on.  At one point my thoughts had me considering my age now as opposed to a younger Dave.  I thought if this pandemic had struck in my 20’s or 30’s it would have been devastating to face such deep uncertainty. Then I laughed because at my age now I just want my feet to be warm and wear comfortable shoes!

Our Lord is good.  Even in this we can be certain of His love, faithfulness, grace, mercy, peace, and comfort.  As I mentioned in a previous Word of Encouragement, Paul tells us: “He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together”  (Colossians 1:17).

Our world is not in chaos.  It’s in the hands of our Sovereign God and he wants to sing over us.  The prophet Zephaniah declares it this way:

“For the Lord your God is living among you.  He is a mighty savior.

He will take delight in you with gladness.  With his love, he will calm your fears.

He will rejoice over you with joyful songs” (Zephaniah 3:17).

May we faithfully follow him and obey his commands as we grow stronger together.  Then our Lord will rejoice over us with singing.
