The Jewish Remnant - Part 2

January 5, 2022

Therefore when you see the 'ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. (Matthew 24:15-21).

Why have the Jewish people suffered so much throughout their history? (1) God chose them, through Abraham, to be His particular possession in the earth. He gave them a constitution and laws to govern their lives and their faith. But they have been a ‘stiff-necked’ and ‘hard-hearted’ people, rebelling against God from day 1. They have suffered under the righteous punishment of God for their continual sin against Him.

(2) God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be their Messiah, to destroy Satan and free mankind from slavery to sin. But Israel condemned and crucified Jesus Christ, the Messiah, saying in His trial before Pontus Pilate, His blood be on us and on our children. Their damning words have haunted them through the ages for rejecting God’s Son.

(3) Satan has focused his attention on destroying everything that belongs to God, including the Jews and Christians, but more importantly the Jews. He attempted to kill their Messiah, Jesus Christ. He has blinded them to the truth of the Gospel. He has worked to rob them of their promised land, and he has persecuted them at the hands of the nations where they have lived. Satan hates God and everything that belongs to God, including the Jews.

Why do the Jews still exist in the earth? Nations and culture groups larger than the Jews have ceased to exist throughout human history, yet the Jews remain. Millions died in the Greek conquest of Israel. Millions more died in the Roman conquest of Israel. Untold millions have died at the hands of Nazi Germany and Communist Russia and other nations. But the Jews have survived. How? Why? Because of God’s promise to them through Abraham. They will continue to survive through this age and the time of the Great Tribulation that is yet to come. Many of them have, and continue to come to faith in Jesus Christ through evangelistic efforts of Christians around the world. A great multitude of Jews will come to faith in Jesus Christ during the Great Tribulation when the Lord will execute a ‘full court press’ on the world with the Gospel despite the efforts of the Anichrist to destroy all Jews and Christians.

“Thank You, Lord, for Your sovereign love, grace, mercy, and power that continues to uphold Your people in this fallen world. Continue to use us as instruments of Your Kingdom in sharing Jesus Christ with others as we march steadily on to the time of the end of the age. To You honor and glory I ask, Amen.”
